Youth Homelessness Service QSS provides a specialist service for homeless young people through its Youth Homelessness Service, incorporating the Youth Residential Building and the Youth Homeless Outreach Service. The Youth Residential Building provides 24 hr crisis supported accommodation for young people aged between 15 and 19 who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless. The Youth Homeless Outreach Service assists young people aged between 15 and 19 who are homeless or at risk and who require on-going support to access long term stable accommodation and other community services. The service helps young people by providing them with:
- Assistance and support in accessing stable, safe and affordable medium and long term accommodation
- Practical support and assistance in developing independent living skills
- Linkages to mainstream services that include health and well-being, education and vocational training, income security and maintenance and recreational activities
- Assistance in accessing specialist services to address individual needs
- Assistance with family reconciliation or referral to Reconnect
- Access to up-to-date relevant information and advice: and
- Safe short term accommodation for Youth Residential Building clients.
Transitional Support Program QSS’ Transitional Support Program provides a service for individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of becoming so. The program provides an immediate crisis response as well as on-going support in the process of assisting people to establish and maintain their housing. The services provided for people accessing the Transition Support Program include;
- Immediate crisis response to homelessness
- Assistance and support in accessing stable, safe and affordable medium and long term accommodation
- Practical support and assistance in developing independent living skills
- Linkages to mainstream services that include health and well-being, education and vocational training, income security and maintenance and recreational activities
- Assistance in accessing specialist services to address individual needs
- Advocacy and referral to access relevant services
- A period of medium term support
